Gear:
Vest
Army Vest MG -
The ammo from the MG belt is only made up of 2D textures, and does not look nice when looked from up close. I would suggest using 3D cartridge models for the ammo belts (like seen in other gear that has visible 3D items).
Vehicles:
Ground Vehicles
Medium Tanks or early "Main Battle Tanks" -
A place where armored warfare lacks a bit in the DLC and could be improved is with tanks such as T-54/55, M60 series of tanks, and even T-34 (or the "Type 58" Chinese copy)
Armored Personnel Carriers -
M113 for the US is a good example, I also recall NVA having something equivalent but I do not know its name.
AA Vehicles (mobile) -
ZSU-57-2 "Sparka": used from 1959 to 1975 in the Vietnam War;
ZSU-23-4 "Shilka": Wikipedia claims it was used in the end of the 1975 Ho Chi Min campaign;
M42 Duster: seems to have been widely used in the Vietnam War, supplemented by quad mounted M2 .50cal MGs. Could be compared to the ZSU-57-2;
M163 VADS: in service from 1969 to present, and Wikipedia claims it even took part in the Vietnam War. Would be a decent counterpart to the ZSU-23-4.
Air Vehicles
Fighter/Interceptor -
Important as North Vietnam completely lacks any fixed wing aircraft that could pose a threat to the F-4 Phantoms
For the North Vietnam:
MiG-17F/PF: North Vietnam had many of these, usually "Made in China" as the J/F-5
MiG-19 (I suggest the P or PT model): North Vietnam had some, usually also "Made in China" as the J-6
MiG-21F-13/PF/PFM: North Vietnam had some, but the bulk of their fighters were MiG-17s and MiG-19s
For the US:
F-4E Phantom 2: F4 Phantom "E model" was equipped with a M61 in the nose, AN/APQ-120 radar, better engines, and some units with leading edge slats as under the "Agile Eagle" program. The first F-4E was delivered to the USAAF in October of 1967, according to this source: https://www.marchfield.org/aircraft/fighter/f-4e-phantom-ii-mcdonnell-douglas/
F-5 (A/C/E models): F-5Es were used by the South Vietnam Airforce, and subsequently were captured by North Vietnam. The US also operated some F-5Cs for a few months in Vietnam to evaluate it. Worth mentioning that the F-5E had far better acceleration than the F-5A model.
Fighter-Bomber/Attacker -
Could be interesting to supplement the F-4 Phantoms, but not desperately needed.
F-100D Super Sabre: Fighter bomber model in use since around 1956, and eventually replaced by the F-105 in strike missions and by the LTV A-7 in Close Air Support. As a fighter it is a very good counterpart to the MiG-19/J-6 used by North Vietnam.
F-105 Thunderchief: A Fighter-Bomber that was able to carry massive payloads, with some models carrying around twice the payload of the F-100D. Other models were used in "Wild Wiesel" Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses role.
A-1 Skyraider: Iconic single radial engine, propeller driven ground attack aircraft. Very Simple. Not much to explain, and very little to go wrong with.
LTV A-7D: Consdered a "Light Attack Aircraft", it can carry some decent payloads. And comes with a 20mm, and in the game "War Thunder" it can even carry a pair of 30mm GAU-13 rotary cannons on GPU-5/A gun pods mounted on wing pylons.
