So I dont know if this is still read or managed or if the patreon took over that now since you guys transitioned over to the mod but I figured I would still voice my opinion anyways. First of all I do try to keep up with new mod and it seems like from what I have seen there is quite a bit of stuff in the pipeline such as:
Vehicles:
HH-53 Super Stallion/ Super Jolly Green Giant
M-42 Duster
A-1 Skyraider
USS Benewah-class barracks ship
Centurion Mk 5/1
LVTP-5 APC 'The Fridge'
M163 VADS
Tuk Tuk Taxi
Weapons and equips:
China Lake
SOG HALO jumping equipment
Air Cav Stetson
MBA Gyrojet Pistol
M12 SMG
FM 24/29 LMG
XM148 GL
Steven Model 77E
Type 56 with BM56 GL
So I will avoid mentioning that as I know that is being worked on or at least acknowledged by the team which is certainly a great start and I am glad it is. Ill start with ground vehicles as Id at least say personally that's what I most want to see first specially for a game like Arma 3.
Vehicles:
M109 Paladin 155mm - I was really shocked there wasn't a single US self propelled howitzer system in SOG PF to be honest and I think it could be neat to see but I know it has been done to death
M110 203mm - Could be nice to add the other really popular SPH and it would be good at counter battery and SEAD and I can see a cool balancing mechanic with the in game artillery system where it only allows you to call in a few shots as the reloads were slow, typically three shots per two minutes
MIM-23 Hawk - Would really nice to have as the PAVN get the S-75 so it could be a nice balancer there
M548 Cargo Carrier - A really nice alternative to the M54 trucks as they would be able to carry ammo and other supplies and could be armed with a pintle .50 cal and is amphibious. Some other variants had the quad mount .50 cal "Meat Chopper" AA Turret in the rear bed and other variants had the MIM-23 Hawk mounted as well.
M116 Husky - similar to the M548 but the Marines typically used this vehicle as their cargo carrier, I figured it could be neat to see since the USMC is getting there own APC.
M551 Sheridan - I am sure this has been requested a lot but it would be really neat to see as it was a very good light recon tank that was airdroppable by the C-130 and it had a lot of field modifications that could be neat to see in the editor such as the chicken wire or bird cage RPG stat cages and spaced aluminum armoring on the underside to protect it from mines, it also be nice to see the MGM-51 Shillelagh ATGM. The M551 also had great bunker busting and anti infantry capabilities making it great for Arma 3.
M50 Ontos - another popular one I am aware but would be really cool to see as it was great for infantry support and it would be really silly to see in game as well and would be awesome to see to complete the Marine Corps sub faction too.
M728 CEV - despite being based off of the M60 it was actually deployed Vietnam in 1968 and was used for obstacle clearing for infantry and vehicles or used in an anti fortification role which would be really nice to see to clear out bunkers quickly.
SU-100 - PAVN did receive some of these in small numbers however was it was primarily used as a costal defense gun but it can still be fun to see in game despite we would be using it outside of PAVN's role for it.
BTR-60 - it was said the Soviet Union started giving PAVN some BTR-60s starting in 1967, may not be as notable as other missing pieces of equipment but good balancer to give to the PAVN forces.
SU-76 - Small airdroppable Soviet designed self propelled field gun that saw a lot of use in the Vietnam War as infantry support for the NVA
T-34-85 - Soviet designed tank from WWII and ended up being the most produced tank in the world and saw use with the NVA in the Vietnam War and saw use during in Operation Lam Son 719 of 1971, the Easter Offensive of 1972 and the Spring Offensive of 1975.
ZSU-57-2 Sparka - Soviet made SPAA system with twin 57mm cannons that did not have airburst rounds, it was used by the NVA for a while however gained notoriety in the 1972 Easter Offensive and can be a similar vehicle to the M42 Duster when that gets added.
AZP S-60 - single 57mm gun AAA gun which is what the Sparka used for its armament instead in just a static turret form that came first and saw widespread use with the NVA and can be a good equal to the US Bofor 40mm.
Another focus Id love to see for SOG PF would be more so on the US brown water navy side as I feel like if the USS Benewah is in the pipeline I think these vessels should be as well as it would perfectly go with the mobile Moor system.
Vessels:
LCM (8) "Mike Boat" - Would be awesome to see for Arma for shore landings and carrying the M48 Patton MBT across rivers too which would be possible via Arma 3's vehicle in vehicle loading system, it could also carry infantry and the M50 Ontos. It would also be armed with .50 cal machine guns.
LCM (6) Armored Troop Carrier (ATC) "Tango" - Heavily armored landing ships used by the US Mobile Riverine Force (MRF), they would typically be armored with 20 mm cannon, two .50-caliber and four .30-caliber machine guns, two Mk 18 grenade launchers and be able to carry 40 troops into battle or an M113 APC or an M101 105mm artillery cannon with a truck, could be really cool to see one carrying troops across a river or even providing fire support.
LCM (6) River Monitor - quite similar to the ATC variant however it was armed with one 40mm cannon, one 81mm mortar, one 20mm cannon, two .50-caliber machine guns and the 40mm was used as a bunker buster during the war however was eventually supplemented by the M132A1 Zippo flame thrower variant, the mounting of the flame thrower replaced 40mm cannon.
Assault Support Patrol Boat - these vessels acted as support and escort vessels for the ATC and would be equipped with two Mk 48 turrets that housed the Colt Mk12 20mm autocannons and a rear facing .50 cal MG with an underbarrel Mk81 mortar system as well.
I think the helicopter side has been pretty good although there are some more obscure helicopters that could be added that could benefit the game.
Helicopters:
OH-58 Kiowa - an Army helicopter that was introduced with the new concept of helicopter infantry however instead of transport it was typically used for utility, recon/observation, direct fire support and artillery finding also some of them could be armed with the M134 7.62 Minigun as well.
CH-46 Sea Knight "Phrog" - Navy and Marine medium lift and transport helicopter which would be good for the Marines sub faction again as it would provide a higher transport and lift capacity than the UH-1s and would be good for modded assets such as the aircraft carriers or even the in game Marine bases.
CH-53 Sea Stallion - Marine heavy lift and transport helicopter that is much closer to being the equal of the Army's CH-47 Chinook and can carry artillery units, small cars and cargo supplies from aircraft carriers and Marine bases and is the basis of the HH-53 Super Jolly Green Giant.
AH-1J Twin Cobra - a more powerful version of the AH-1G Cobra developed by the USMC for better safety and redundancy of equipment for operations over the water, it did see service in Vietnam and during the Vietnam War it never received air launched TOW missiles instead using largely the same armament as the AH-1G expect for the nose cannon which is now a tri barreled 20mm autocannon.
UH-1N Twin Huey - a more powerful version of the UH-1 used first by the USAF in 1969 then the USN and USMC in 1970 and was preferred for the same reasons as the Twin Cobra, also the Twin Huey could be armed with GAU-16/.50 cal MG or the GAU-17 M134 7.62 minigun.
Mi-4 Hound - it is said that the NVA had Mi-4s sitting in inventory however never actually using them until the Cambodian-Vietnamese war due to the US's air supremacy during the war and makes more sense to have than the Mi-2 as they never had Mi-2s although I am aware it is there for balancing.
For aircraft Id say that is probably the most lacking part however that makes sense as Arma 3 air to air combat is known for being the greatest however I think aircraft serve a very important role for the game.
Aircraft:
A-37 Dragonfly - a very nice cheap CAS/COIN aircraft used by the Army, Marines and Navy that was also able to assist with CSAR much like the A-1 Skyraider, in fact it was intended to be the replacement for it, due to its light armament it could be a good way to balance or nerf CAS for certain missions.
A-4 Skyhawk - another cheaper CAS option however it was also the Navy's first SEAD armed aircraft and would often do strikes in lower intensity zones
A-7 Corsair II - one of the US Navy's primary carrier based attack aircraft, it did help with CAS and also did a lot of successful strikes in North Vietnam and would often operate in higher intensity zones during the day.
A-6 Intruder - very similar to the A-7 however it was able to equip bigger payloads and was specialized for night attack and anti ship roles and was the second SEAD armed USN aircraft.
B-52 Stratofortress - I know it would be very large and cumbersome for the smaller Arma 3 maps so thats why you have to call it in over the radio in that case maybe we could at least have a model for setting at airbases if we cant get a flying model.
F-106 Detla Dagger - If we do get a B-52 I think an F-106 Delta Dagger would be awesome to go with it as it its what escorted B-52s during their Arc Light missions from 1964-1969 .
C-130 Hercules - I know its a very popular aircraft and highly requested but it would be really nice to see it if we do get the M551 so we can pallet drop it plus you can load the M113s into it too.
F-5 Tiger - small light fighter made by the air force by converting T-33 trainers to counter the smaller and older aircraft of the NVA however was often used a light strike fighter in contested airspace again good for restricted CAS on certain missions that might need it.
F-8 Crusader - the last US gunfighter and used by the Navy and was used to counter the smaller older aircraft the NVA used and was often used to escort the other Navy attack craft such as the A-7.
F-105 Thunder Chief - Probably one of the biggest flyable planes this mod would likely see if it does get added, it also had a twin seat SEAD/Wild Weasel variant that could be armed with the AGM-78 Standard ARM, the non Wild Weasel bomber was removed from combat in 1970 due to the high loss rate which does seem to be about the cutoff as this mod and DLC seems to more so focus around 1967-1969 rather than 1970-1972 despite the F-111 entering combat in 1968 it was quickly withdrawn till 1971 due to hydraulic issues so I feel like thats too late to add.
OV-1 Mohawk - I am always shocked how little there are battlefield surveillance aircraft in Arma 3 mods and Id love to see that be changed as I feel like Arma 3 is one of the only games in the world that actually benefit from seeing them implemented due to the way the maps and infantry combat is and I would love to see that be changed here with the new mod. Also side note this is one of the few planes operated by the Army rather than the USAF and was a joint USAF and Marine project and one of the requirements was it had to be able to take off from Escort Carriers, also there was an incident that an Army OV-1 shot down a MiG-17 and tried to keep the shot down a secret in order to not get the Mohawks transfered over to the USAF.
MiG-17 Fresco - Shot down many US aircraft as it proved to be a good turn fighter however it could also carry about 1000 lbs of bombs as well making an ok CAS plane for the NVA.
AN-2 Colt - Soviet built propeller driven bi-plane that could take off from rough field airstrips and was a key part of the NVA as it functioned as cargo, recon, light attack and paradrop platform that was used extensively throughout the war. There is even a funny story about a CIA shooting down an AN-2 Colt with a UH-1D when AN-2s armed with with FFAR rockets and vertically dropped mortar bombs on the underside of the aircraft with special cut holes for them, then a CIA UH-1D was on intercept course to one due to how slow it's top speed was and the pilot flew right over one of the wings and the rotor wash caused the wing to small and the AN-2 pilot reduced altitude then a crewman in the back of the UH-1D grabbed a rifle then open fired on the cockpit and the plane went into a flatspin then crashed.
I feel like the SOG series has always been really on top of adding all of the infantry and handheld weapons really well there is really only a few things I can ask for.
Infantry Weapons and Turret:
M67 90mm Recoilless Rifle - a very popular shoulder fired recoilles rifle from the late 50s used by the Army, Marines , South Korea and ARVN, it did have decent AT capabilities but was mostly used in an anti personel role.}
M9A1-7 Flame Thrower- the most popular and common flamethrower of the Vietnam War, I was really surprised to see this not be added when we got the Zippo variants of the M113 and the M48.
M202 Flash - the replacement for the M9A1 flame thrower, it fired a napalm like warhead called TPA from four 60mm rocket tubes, it suffered from reliability issues and accuracy issues however it was supposed to be anti structure and anti infantry weapon.
FIM-43 Redeye - really surprised to not see this in the game despite it being used and the NVA having the Strela-2 and 2M variants so I think this is a good chance to balance the weapons.
