Hey there, some of you may know me from the TFAR Mike Force Servers. I've been playing on them constantly since launch, and as such have learned a lot about how to do things. I'm going to make a video on it at some point, but for now enjoy this comprehensive list of tactics, and tricks!
Stealth is always an option.
You may be wondering how this is possible, as VC seem to be able to see you through a lot of concealment. The answer shouldn't surprise you, if you stay low, and move slow enough you can avoid being spotted. This is a lot easier at night time, as the enemy has a hard time seeing you, just like you have a hard time seeing them. For early game, take a Sten, or a Grease Gun (they both have silencers for Privates), breaching charges, and Molotov's when the shit kicks off (It always does). When going through the jungle always crouch, or crawl, and keep your ears open for Vietnamese chatter. If the enemy is close, hit the dirt, find a bush if possible and stay still. As long as the enemy doesn't connect their feet to you they're likely not to even see you. Always make sure to set a charge with a timer, and add some time. The explosion will be a great way to draw the Enemy away from you, and towards the source.
Helicopters can Stealth too.
Yes, the loud ass, flying bricks can be stealthy. At night time AA can have a hard time spotting a Heli if they go full dark (No Collision, Flares, or Lights). I have personally landed Heli's on top of active AA with this tactic. You wont take off again, but you can get the drop on the enemies!
Running and shooting isn't a terrible idea.
If you are going loud, then expect everything in ear shot to come running at you. Do not let yourself get bogged down. If you remain stationary you will be flanked, and overrun if there's enough enemies in the area. They'll keep coming at you, as long as you remain in contact. The best thing to do is be very mobile, hell sometimes it's even a good idea to run like hell when being shot at just to get into a better position.
Always stick the first aid.
What do I mean by this? I mean even if you're getting shot at, if the guy you're healing is on his belly shooting you're better off healing him right there in the shit than carrying him. It's basic math, if you're carrying a guy to different cover then he's not shooting, so now you're down 2 guns in the fight. If he's on his belly fighting, then you're down one gun temporarily.
Keep Fighting
If you go down you have a chance to be able to roll onto your belly depending on how injured you are. To do this, tap a movement key, and you'll roll onto your stomach. From this position you can fire your primary, and secondary weapons. This can save your buddies if you're in a bad spot. If you manage to hold on long enough you can even Withstand and pick yourself up.
Unarmed Cayuse is a wonderful transport
If there's one slick, and the AO is on the other side of the map, you may just be better off grabbing a Cayuse. You don't have to be Greenhornets to jump in as Pilot, so you, and three others can fly yourselves to the fight! Just be sure to bring some explosives to blow the Cayuse once you've landed, and you're clear. The bird will respawn back at the Airfield, and it's common courtesy to clean up after yourself.
I've got a lot more tips, but I'll leave you with these six for now. Some people may disagree with how I play, but it's a game, and it's how I like to do things. If you found these helpful, or useful then that's all I care about.
Hope to catch you out there, slaying the dragon with us!
