My grandfather was a vietnam veteran. His most vivid stories always came from the realization that killing women and children would create even more hostile vietamese resistance, to which the US response was always more death. In terms of war, the US effectively negated their own chances of winning the war by killing women and children. The painful erasure of those memories in the minds of the Vietnamese survivors were what solidified a Communist victory in Vietnam. Not only that, but the types of weapons employed had a lasting effect on the people that had to live with the ramifications of US interference in the war. Something the US was not equipped to deal with at the time. We're talking about a generation that thought that no harm could come from smoking. Until 2007 automobiles still came default with ashtrays and cigarette lighters (sidebar). The inclusion of women and children in this mod may produce more realistic responses to the destructive nature of what was actually happening, and open the doors for a more realistic in game dialog as to the real ramifications of indiscriminate killing in the context of the battle between Communism and Democracy. IDAP and other modern forces are included in regular Arma, and some variant of that should be included in the SOG series as well.
