5[SUP]TH[/SUP] SPECIAL FORCES GROUP (Airborne]
Welcome to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). A-Detachment is an Arma 3 milsim unit focused on recreating the skirmishes, battles and campaigns of the Vietnam War. From 1964 to 1971, the 5th Special Forces Group (5SFG) played a predominant role in the covert war in Vietnam, with many of its ranks volunteering for duty with MACV-SOG.
How do we do Milsim? We operate on three principles. 1. Kit selection, from uniform to weapons our unit members use historical resources to dress the part. 2. Fieldcraft and team tactics are a big part of what we do. No Rambo’s here. 3. Communication, from briefings to radio procedures our unit immerses itself by practicing good commo discipline.
Our Unit Ops are based on historical timelines and events and we do strive to stay true to the type of missions 5SFG, A-teams and MACV-SOG would have run during the Vietnam War. To keep the game interesting we rotate and play on all Unsung Redux and SOG Prairie Fire maps as well as incorporate cooperative large sandbox operations with PVP, PVE and Mike Force. The unit structure is that of a standard special forces company with members forming several ODA’s and Recon Teams or RT’s within the company. From Recruit to Captain everyone has a role to play in the unit and advancement and leadership roles is earned through unit involvement. The 1st tactical air squadron and Pleiku’s Wolfpack 8th fighter wing are the A-team’s air support. Airmen can expect to fly close air support, medivac, reconnaissance, supply, infantry, light vehicle transport and carrier operations.
Joining is easy! All members fill out an application and submit it via discord. Applicants are then brought on for a trial period of 4 weeks. This is your Recruit SF course startline and only you can define where it ends.
