Feedback - Gear Coloration Issue

Hey S.O.G. Prairie Fire Team,

Great DLC! It's brought me and a lot of my friends back into Arma 3 and we've been having a blast so far.

There is one small issue I've noticed, which is that some of the headgear items don't match the coloration or shading of the uniforms.

For instance, the Tigerstripe boonie caps for both coloration variants are darker shades than their uniform variants.

This is a very minor issue, but I felt it would be worth making known.

I remember bringing up the same thing in November 2020, this was the response of one of the veteran advisors:

"To be fair the hats tend to get a lot darker over time especially as they absorb sweat and dust. Same for armpit areas, collars, and groin. Plus they never totally match perfect. Its something that always irks me a bit about uniforms in Arma. Im not one for everything looking like its straight out of the laundry or paint shop."

Is that an acceptable answer to you? 😄

I'm also a re-enactor, WW2 not Vietnam although I do own a fair bit of Nam era kit. A big thing within re-enactment and living history is the misconception among many people that all uniform and webbing items matched each other in shade and tone. It's simply not true even for brand new, unissued equipment. There are often many seperate numbers of equipment manufacturers and material suppliers and while there are military issued standards for colour etc there were still huge variations in those areas. It is quite common when looking through original uniforms and equipment to find items made up from different batches of material that are different in shade, particularly on combat related items. All that is before as Maarten makes clear the equipment has seen the rigors of combat and been subject to bleaching by the sun and dunked in fetid pools or dirty water and mud.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yeah, these sound like completely reasonable answers. I didn't consider sweat and dust or miscoloration from when the gear was issued new as possibilities. Knowing this, I think the textures are perfectly fine and I have no further feedback on them.

Also notice that all tiger-stripe clothing is available in two variants, differing in the overall brightness/contrast.
