Question for Dick Thompson, can you tell more stories about working with Eldon Bargewell? He's talked about in almost every SOG book out there, for what I've heard this guy was the real deal!

What immediate action drills and battle drills were used, and how were they adapted for jungle?

I would love to know about the S2 support received as opposed to the actual S2 support needed. (At any level from Team to Brigade+)

Bonus question: Assuming unlimited support and funds, what S2 support would you have loved to have?

Did SOG try to actively recruit anyone? Was in common for guys that were in LRRs Ranger units to transition over to that line of work? With such a high casualty rate, how were spots filled when needed?

Secondly, what went on at the camps when there wasnt an imminent mission? Was it all business, Immediate Action Drills, and planning, or were there shenanigans going on during down time? If there were, Id love to hear about them.

Just finished both of Nick Brokhausen's books recently, he mentioned several of the more surreal episodes he had in country involving "Bru Ju Ju" such as one of his Indig Bong who was a Shaman "sensing" NVA and being able to give an accurate troop estimate based off his feeling. He also talks about developing "Jungle ESP" after running a few missions where he could almost feel when someone was looking at him, which he surmised was just a subconscious survival mechanism. My question would be if any of the other Vets had similar encounters or Stranger in a Strange land moments?

1) How big of a concern was it for your teams being potentially compromised by the indigenous civilian population, whose loyalty was unknown?

2) If you were compromised by a civilians during an op, how did you, or would you have handled it as a TL?
