Wishlist - What do you want to see in the Prairie Fire DLC?

I'd love to see a Colt 605. I know there weren't many issued, but this is a MACV SOG dlc and as such, I feel it would be a nice fit. It literally is a cut down M16 with a 3-prong flash hider and no bayonet lug. I figure this should be very easy to model in theory. Hell, you could even reuse the camo pattern for M16 as well.

Seems my original post was one of those that was lost, so I'll post again. So how would you guys feel about allowing the M72 LAWs to be carried inside backpacks? The US/ARVN side is kind of short on what anti-tank they can bring besides looting from the enemy, and plenty of militaries that use the LAW carry 2 or 3 per soldier. I think I've seen some 'Nam photos of US soldiers carrying theirs stuffed between the backpack flaps etc. Is there any reason not to do that?

The AI might not be able to make use of additional launchers that are stored in the backpack, but it'd be nice for human players in smaller player-count games. Dragging and dropping a launcher from the backpack is really not a problem at all, sure beats being out of AT or making every man in the squad carry one.

Doing that is as simple as adding the backpack slot into the weapon's allowedSlots, like this:

It's just the ammo management script(s) that I presume to exist that need to be tweaked so the round isn't deleted when putting a launcher into backpack or taking another from the virtual arsenal. Would it be possible to just "spawn" a round into the chamber when a launcher is equipped in the launcher slot? Right now dragging a launcher into the slot already loads a round automatically if one is in the backpack, but that'd be even handier and less failure-prone.

I've been really enjoying the cDLC so far, I played the cr*p out of Unsung since Apex released and also been obsessed with MACV SOG history for some time now. Needless to say I'm incredibly happy about SOG Prairie Fire.

About things I'd wish to see in SOGPF in the future:

Environment/Animals

Water Buffalos, would really add to the atmosphere to see some in game during missions. For me it was one of the best thing about Unsung in arma 2 and I always hoped to see them in the arma 3 version. This would be my number one wish to be honest lol.

Infantry Gear/ Accessories

Another model/variant of headband. Like one that would cover a bit more of the characters forehead or that would be longer in the back.
A few more variations of SOG webgears.
A few more variation of tropical/SOG backpacks
SOG uniforms without gloves
SOG uniforms with the ww2 leggins but without the tucked in shirt
A sleeveless/cut sleeves US uniform so we can go full Elias
Topless short uniform for the PAVN sappers
Additional Foliage PAVN backpacks as mentioned by others
Hairs as facewear/NVGs, like many of the SOG/SF and Indig guys can be seen in photos having quite long hairs that surely did not respect standard military regulations.
Ho Chi Minh stache/beard type as facewear/NVGs wear
New additionals face/head models for the Vietnamese and Montagnards would be great, vanilla arma only as a few asian type identities.

Vehicles

A-1 Skyraiders
Jolly Green Giants or Sea Stallion or any of the H53 variations.
AC-47 Spooky or AC-130, usable as a support within the Radio support module would be amazing.
M-113 for the US and ARVN.

Gameplay mechanics/ Functionality

Rope Extractions functionality. The Dev team has likely thought and brainstormed this idea as it was an important part of MACV SOG operations. A stabo rig extraction or rope ladder mechanic would make the SOG experience even more complete for sure. And if it would be AI compatible it would be even more amazing.
Rope insertion mechanic, same as above but the other way lol.
More customizable Tracker Module. The tracker mechanic is a great feature of SOGPF. Though having more control about what it does would be nice, such as adding a max number of spawned units, what type of units it spawns with a whitelisting or blacklisting function, etc...

Anyway, thanks for delivering an already great experience Devs!

Not even sure if it would be possible in ArmA but it would be cool if the ART optic could actually automatically adjusted it's ranging based on the level of its magnification like it does in real life. Also taking away the full-auto capability of the XM21 would be a plus.

brighter search lights please!

I made a post in S8 about this but I suppose it would go better here. I think as they are, the search lights on the huey and static guns aren't very useful and real life search lights were much bright and extended much further. I've posted images of the huey m60 search lights to highlight how little they illuminate, especially when you're flying a mere 40m above ground. I think they should be bright enough that they can do CSAR in the dead of night.

I was hoping they'd be as bright as the CUP search lights

edit My groups vehicle pilots are also griping that the vehicle lights are too weak and it makes night flying annoying for them

Everything in this release is fantastic! to all the assets and sound design, the missions were incredibly immersive and always had us on edge. so firstly i just want to thank you and the team for all your hard work.

My only request would be to add some elements of the Australian Army.- Uniforms

Weapons (Cant look past the SLR)
AUS Artillery
Centurion Tanks
Potentially some COOP scenarios like the Battle of long TAN
(Similar to some of your other missions, 1 group of players are moving to an objective and get ambushed and the battle commences. Then the transport element of players must get there as soon as possible to extract the solders before being overwhelmed using APC's. Could also incorporate player controlled artillery support)

Just a few ideas i think would complete this experience for me being an Australian and have members of family who had served, Again a huge thanks to you guys ! And a massive thankyou for the men and women who served in that conflict to protect our beliefs and the ANZAC spirit.

Honestly there's already a ton of awesome assets. the DLC far exceeds my expectations, thank you for all the hard work you've put in.

Like some other here I'd like to see the airwing fleshed out a little. A couple of MiG's for the OPFOR, and probably a carrier (The USS Freedom does look a little out of place) with maybe some A-6 Intruders and A-7 Corsairs.

I just feel there were so many iconic (and beautiful) aircraft back then it would be a shame to only have the F-4 to explore.

For the troops of North vietnam -
D-20 as a heavy artillery unit (America should have M114)
T-54 as the main battle tank of North Vietnam (M48 Patton for US forces)
For US troops
M113 (this is obviously the workhorse of that war)
M55 self propelled howitzer will be an interesting addition for American artillery

A lot of the stuff currently in the DLC is very well done, but there’s perhaps some other things that could be added. Mostly as nods to the legendary servicemen in Vietnam. Like Carlos hathcock,
his feathered cap should be added along side the other head ware, those who know of him will appreciate it, and those who don’t will have a story to read
secondarily would be the static M2 browning machine gun with a scope mounted on it that our same character Carlos used to get the longest confirmed sniper kill in the USMC

third, with CDLCs weapons, they have a chance to fail. Like with the mortar, so why not add a north Vietnamese
Copy of the browning M1911 that was effectively just brazed together, and give it like a chance to blow up. Injuring or killing the shooter

since the maps are limited and visibility is a problem in arma, I am not very keen on fast movers even though I am a huge fan of planes

I believe this does a great job at summarizing what most people want
IMO what is most "needed":

more USMC stuff/ more vests
M113
some more work on urban areas like optimization but also more Iconic buildings that are enterable
better quality in the helicopter interiors etc.

*Different versions/textures of punji stick so they can be used in places like tunnels

Would be nice adding Australia/new Zealand and Korea maybe add some Soviet models for the advisors that were supposed to be there vehicles i think everyone pretty much covered the essentials but gotta say having a chaffe for south Vietnam forces they did last using them a while and the t34 can be interesting to have since the period saw some ww2 stuff still being there it's quite the transition

Could you give us the option of having a pistol-slot version of the M127 flare launcher? That would be a more practical slot for it in my opinion, plus allow it to be fired from prone. The grip-animation might suffer a bit, but the unholstering animation would improve as a trade-off.

Aside from more American assets, some truly quality ANZAC assets would be incredible. For me there's no better experience than roaming around the jungle with a SLR poaching the VC/NVA.

I'll keep the post in the style of the "BLUFOR versus REDFOR" pairs that the DLC presentations are written in:

Main battle tanks: M48 Patton versus T-34/T-54

Armored Personnel Carriers: M131 versus BTR-50

Fast transport vehicles: N/A versus GAZ-67 (already have M131 for BLUFOR)

Helicopters: Mi-8 versus CH-47 Chinook

Aircraft: N/A versus MIG-21/MIG-19 (already have F4 for BLUFOR)

Additional stuff:
A-1 Skyraider (people forget not all planes were jets - props were still used even in the Vietnam War!)
C-47 + AC-47 "Spooky" (vehicle-in-vehicle transport for C-47 could really help out ACAV! Plus, who doesn't love a good ol' gunship?)
Mi-24 (I know, I know, the PAVN never had these, but super sekrit Ruski documents show Spetznaz GRU was active in Vietnam and even attacked American bases - maybe they decided to bring one with them?)
SR-71 / U2 (haha just kidding... unless? 😏)

Also, despite what seems like a huge headache to implement, I think flamethrowers would be a great addition! Both handheld (M2) and attached to vehicles (M67 "Zippo" and M132). Also the M202 Flash with Napalm rounds!
